2026 Spring Co-ed Beginner Golf Clinics

There are 3 separate golf clinics: one clinic for brand new golfers; one for beginners and one for novices. Theresa McDermott is teaching these golf clinics at Grey Silo Golf Course. 

Intro to Golf – Beginners – First Step Golf Clinic 101    

Fee $210 + tax       **Early Bird Special of $195 + tax if registered by Friday March 27th**

6 x 1hr group sessions               

No experience necessary

Co-Ed Session – Saturdays, May 16th – June 20th, 8:15 – 9:15am   Rain date: Saturday June 27th

The First Step Golf Clinic 101 is designed for adults that are brand new to golf.  This clinic is appropriate for someone who has either no experience or very limited experience in golf.  This program is a great way for students to learn and try golf in a fun and friendly group atmosphere.    

Co-Ed Chipping Clinic

Students will be introduced to four areas of golf: 

  • Putting – basic mechanics (short and medium length putts)
  • Chipping – basic mechanics (when close to the green – getting the ball up onto the green)
  • Pitching – basic mechanics (slightly further from the pin/flag – getting ball up in the air)
  • Full Swing – basic mechanics and movements in the swing (on the range)

In all four areas, students will learn how to: hold the club; set-up properly; and how to make a swing/stroke with the appropriate club.  Other topics to be introduced are: useful golf terms, etiquette, basic club selection (what and when to use different clubs) and basic rules. 

Building Confidence – Beginners – Next Step Golf Clinic 2.0

Co-Ed Session – Sundays, May 3rd – June 7th, 11:45 – 12:45pm    Rain date: Saturday June 14th

The Beginner Next Step Golf Clinic 2.0 is designed for adults that have limited experience in golf which may include the following: they have played golf but do not keep score; they played recreational golf in the past and they are getting back into the game; they have established a handicap index of 30+; or they have already taken the First Step Golf Clinic 101.  Students should know basic golf terms and different clubs and where to use them, basic rules, different parts of the course before taking this course.

This Clinic is designed for golfers that would like to enhance their awareness of proper golf fundamentals and motions in:

  • Putting – proper mechanics; how to warm-up before a round; practice effectively
  • Chipping – proper mechanics of two or more chips
  • Pitching – shorter distance pitches – inside 40 yards from the target
  • Full Swing: grip, stance posture, proper turn, weight distribution/transfer and finish position

In all four areas, students will learn: proper fundamentals; functional motion; and club delivery skills.  

Enhancing Skills – Novices – Two Steps Golf Clinic 3.0

6 x 1hr group sessions

Co-ed Spring Session – Wednesdays, May 6th – June 10th, 7:20-8:20pm Rain date: Wednesday June 17th

The Novice Two Steps Golf Clinic 3.0 is for golfers that have already experienced some golf instruction.  This clinic is appropriate for those golfers that: actively play golf a couple times a week; may have an established handicap index of 20 and above; or have attended a Next Step Golf Clinic 2.0.  Students at this level would have an awareness of the proper fundamentals such as grip, stance, posture, proper turn, weight transfer and finish position in a full swing.  They will have an awareness of proper fundamentals and mechanics in putting, chipping and short distance pitches.

This program is designed to take a novice golfer thru more technical aspects of:

  • Putting: more details on technique; distance control and green reading
  • Chipping: development of skills in three or more chip shots; when to use them and why
  • Pitching: medium to longer pitch shots 30-100 yards
  • Full Swing: learn more technical aspects in their swing including path, plane, clubface awareness

Also, students will learn more about their equipment and gain an understanding of why the ball moves in different directions.
